ABOUT

I create because I must. Since childhood, drawing and painting have been my way of existing, of finding calm and rediscovering myself. My work stands at the intersection of graphic precision and painterly freedom—where the power of line meets the spontaneity of color.

Influenced by Expressionism, Abstract Expressionism, and the freedom of installation and movement, I embrace dripping, stains, and bold strokes as tools of sincerity. Each work becomes a space of exploration, where chaos and tenderness coexist, and where viewers are invited to confront their own emotions, vulnerabilities, and hidden landscapes.

Klein Ioana Teodora is a Romanian visual artist whose practice is defined by an unwavering commitment to line, color, and the transformative energy of gesture. Their works vibrate with expressive force—an interplay of graphic precision and painterly spontaneity, where bold strokes, dripping textures, and chromatic explosions converge to reveal both chaos and clarity.

Educated in the fine arts from an early age, Klein Ioana began drawing at just five years old and continued this path uninterrupted. They pursued formal training at the Faculty of Arts in Oradea, specializing in Art Pedagogy, followed by a Master’s degree in Painting and Multimedia at the same university. Seeking to expand their visual vocabulary, they went on to earn a second Master’s in Advertising and Book Graphics in Timișoara, and ultimately completed a PhD in the visual arts, with a dissertation on The History of Jewish Painters in Transylvania.

Their artistic language is nourished by a wide range of influences, from Impressionism, Abstraction, and Cubism, to the raw intensity of Expressionism and Abstract Expressionism. Equally drawn to installation and movement-based practices, Klein Ioana embraces hybridity: graphic clarity intertwined with the freedom of painting. The line, for them, is not merely a contour but a force—an assertive presence that shapes emotion into form. Color, in contrast, emerges as a spontaneous outburst, a vivid stain that resists containment, echoing the dripping gestures of Jackson Pollock and the boundless landscapes of abstract painting.

What drives their work is less a conscious choice and more a necessity, art as a way of being. Creating brings calm, continuity, and self-discovery. For Ioana, painting is not an occasional act but a daily rhythm, a lifelong companion since childhood. Their works are spaces where one can lose oneself, search, and be found again.

Through this practice, the Artist has cultivated an oeuvre that is both deeply personal and universally resonant. It speaks to the need for expression that lies at the core of human experience: the impulse to transform inner turbulence into visual form, and in doing so, to offer viewers a mirror for their own emotions, vulnerabilities, and hidden truths.
